Hand Hewn

Hand hewing is the process of using a broad axe, an adze or a hatchet to turn a round log into a square beam or in any way to dress a raw log’s surface.

Sometimes the surface of a log is only hewn on one surface in order to form a flat face on which to nail floor boards. Resulting a unique texture and irregular markings which make for perfect choice when adding character to a space whether its a ceiling, a whole building, structural accents or mantels.

Hand-hewn beams are distinct and offer historical authenticity, they create a beautiful warm and inviting space with the aged elegance. These beams were crafted using traditional tools, resulting in unique textures and irregularities that exude a sense of craftsmanship and timeless beauty.
